The Environment
Every organisation that uses energy, makes products or transports goods is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions. The sources of these emissions include:
- Energy for building and manufacturing
- Manufacturing processes, refrigeration and chemical reactions
- Transportation
- Incineration and decomposition of waste
Below are just a few of the steps that RFA (UK) have taken to compensate for the impact of our actions:
- Working in partnership with Carbon Offset Scotland, RFA (UK) pledge to plant a tree for every new client who signs a contract with us. These trees will be planted on a hill farm at Balmuick in Central Scotland. All trees planted as part of this project will be native to the area of Scotland concerned. It is estimated that one broadleaf tree will absorb approximately 730kg of carbon dioxide during its full lifetime.
- We operate a discreet service for feminine hygiene and nappy bin waste removal. This service is carried out on clients premises, reducing the number of vehicles and energy that is required to conduct a standard bin exchange.
- We have also introduced the innovative Bio-Pod. This bin which can be used for feminine hygiene waste is made from a biodegradable plastic. The internal cartridge which contains environmentally friendly "saniquills" can be returned to the earth safely through normal refuse disposal.
RFA (UK) pledge to plant a tree for every new contract signed.
